Environmental Protection Team Manager

Staffordshire - Hybrid (at least 2 days in the office)

Duration: 3 months with potential extension

Full time: 37 hours per week

Rate: £55 - 60 (Umbrella) per hour (Inside IR35)

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to lead their Environmental Protection Team. As a key figure in their Regulatory Services Directorate, you will manage the delivery of critical statutory functions, including air quality monitoring, pollution control, and statutory nuisance investigations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Environmental Protection Team, ensuring alignment with council policies and priorities
• Lead on high-impact services, such as regulating industrial pollution, managing private water supplies, and contributing to planning and licensing processes
• Drive performance excellence through effective people management and service optimization
• Represent the council at senior-level meetings and public engagements, providing expert advice and leadership

What We’re Looking For:

• A qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHRB registered) with substantial experience in environmental protection
• Proven ability to manage teams, budgets, and resources effectively
• Strong leadership skills to inspire a high-performing, customer-focused team
• Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions

You will also be responsible for the efficient execution of the range of duties and commensurate with the professional competence of a qualified Environmental Health Officer (EHRB registered).
