Information Governance & Data Protection Locum - Midlands – Part-Time – Predominantly Remote
Location: Midlands
Rate: DOE
Duration: 4 months initially (potential for extension)
Working Pattern: Part-time (3 or 4 days per week) – 1 day in the office is preferrable
Venn Group’s specialist legal team is recruiting for an Information Governance & Data Protection Locum to join a Midlands based Local Authority. This role offers an excellent opportunity to provide expert legal advice on data protection, FOI, and compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing specialist legal advice on Information Governance, Data Protection (UK GDPR), FOI, and compliance.
- Acting as the lead legal expert in the team, as there is no internal legal support available.
- Advising on complex data protection matters, data breaches, and compliance with statutory obligations.
- Reviewing and drafting data-sharing agreements, DPIAs, and policies.
- Supporting the Council on high-risk or contentious information law issues.
Candidate Requirements:
- Public sector/local government experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to work independently and provide authoritative advice on complex matters.
- Strong knowledge of UK GDPR, FOIA, and local authority compliance obligations.
This is an excellent opportunity to work flexibly and remotely while delivering high-impact legal support to a Local Authority.
