Venn Group are working with a local authority client in London to recruit an Interim Platform/Server Engineer on an initial 3 month contract.
The role is paying £500 umbrella per day (inside IR35) and requires 1 day per week onsite.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in patch management and vulnerability remediation for Windows Server and Azure environments.
The Interim Platform/Server Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the security and compliance of the infrastructure and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement robust solutions while minimising service disruption.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, deploy, and validate patches for Windows Servers and Azure-based systems
- Remediate vulnerabilities using tools like Microsoft Defender and Azure Security Centre
- Manage and secure Windows Server environments, including Active Directory and Group Policies
- Automate tasks using PowerShell scripting
- Configure and manage Azure security tools, including Security Centre, Sentinel, and Azure Firewall
- Implement security policies for Azure resources, including VM hardening and access controls
- Collaborate with teams to prioritise and address vulnerabilities
- Maintain documentation for patching and remediation processes
- Conduct post-remediation validation and provide reports to stakeholders
Essential and desirable skills:
- Qualys skills very beneficial
- Azure Desired State Configuration (DSC) – PowerShell skills required
- Should be a Windows Server engineer (Not Windows 10/11 and not Intune)
