Procurement Category Manager: Science and Research
Are you an experienced Procurement Category Manager who specialises in science and research?
If so, we have the prefect role! We are working in partnership with King’s College London on a new position- Procurement Category Manager: Science and Research.
This position will focus on the Science Category and involve working with clients in research and laboratory roles, pre and post award and grant teams to ensure compliant and effective purchasing and contract management.
Job Profile:
- Support colleagues to provide a highly regarded and effective procurement service
- Ensure that approved purchasing policies, practices and procedures are followed
- Assist in the promotion of effective tendering and negotiating procedures and in the evaluation and vetting suppliers
- Establish and maintain effective supply arrangements and working partnerships with external suppliers and providers of science and research goods and services
- Take a key role in promoting the use of established frameworks and other contracts
- Ensure accessible tools and templates are created and maintained for customers
- Attend meetings and develop effective working arrangements with external purchasing consortia, internal and external specialist product groups and other relevant purchasing organisations, departments and groups within both the University and external organisations
- Provide relevant advice to purchasers throughout the University in respect of procurement legislation, University purchasing policies and procedures, Research Council procurement requirements and other relevant laid-down requirements in respect of the purchase of goods and services
- Support the CPO in the provision of management information relating to the University purchasing function and best purchasing practices generally
Essential Criteria:
- CIPS qualification (level 4 or equivalent)
- Knowledge managing procurements and contracts within the Science and Research category
- Track-record of delivering cost savings and efficiencies
- Experience of arranging call-offs and direct awards via Frameworks
- Experience dealing with external supp liers and contract management covering a wide range of products and / or services within a science environment
- Experience working with Purchasing Policy, Directives and Procedures (including PCR, 2015)
Desirable Criteria:
- Working knowledge of Higher Education Sector
Annual salary: Grade 7 £51,974 to £61,021 (Inclusive of £5,000 London Weighting Allowance per annum)
Working hours: Full-Time
Location: London, Hybrid working (1 day a week onsite)
