We are working with a local authority who are looking for a Service Manager within Adult’s Safeguarding to ensure the provision of a high quality and competent safeguarding service across the council.
The service manager will provide high quality compassionate leadership and operational management for the Somerset-wide Safeguarding Service.
Location: Somerset Council
Set-up: Remote/Hybrid – Required to attend Somerset 2-days per week
Rate: Up to£476/hour, via umbrellla inside IR35
Duration: Initial 6-months, potential extension
Hours: Full-time position
Responsibilities include:
- Provide expertise and strong management to drive performance and to commission and/or deliver the Council’s priorities and meet service targets, as a member of the Council’s Senior Management Group
- Provide clarity, management and motivation in delivering the New Operating Model, the County Plan and other Council transformation programmes as required
- Review, develop and implement systems for managing safeguarding and whole service concerns, delivering sustained improvements to ensure excellent professional standards and safe practices are maintained ensuring a person-centred social work approach which achieves the outcomes that people want
- Develop and implement continuous improvement plan to embed lessons learned
- Develop audit and review performance outcomes and customer feedback in order to meet customer requirements and to increase operational efficiency and effectiveness

Requirements:
- Local Government experience required for initial shortlisting, then thereafter at the client’s discretion
- Ability to apply relevant legislation in practice alongside professional priorities and principles of ethical practice while adhering to the Local Authority’s statutory responsibilities
- The ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with partner agencies and contribute to the work of the Somerset Safeguarding Adults Board
- The ability to constructively challenge others and provide direction and guidance, and who actively contributes to and creates safe, open learning cultures where learning is embedded into practice
