We are delighted to sponsor a wellness garden on the Shurton 400kv substation site, adjacent to Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station, in partnership with Linxon and H & Askham. Venn Group continues to supply labour for the civil engineering elements of the new substation project, and this garden provides a place for workers to relax and take a break away from the stress of site. It is one of the first mental health initiatives of its kind and we are privileged to have the opportunity to support it.
In addition to this, the lead consultant for the project, Daniel Hurley, attends the site every week to ensure our Site Operatives are happy in their roles and to assist with the on-boarding process. This exemplifies our sustained commitment to our candidates before, during and after their placement through our extensive after-care service.
The mental health awareness movement has gained significant momentum in recent years, with more people than ever openly discussing the topic and its importance. As we spend such significant amounts of our lives at work, these environments can have a big impact on an individual’s wellbeing. In fact, research from the Royal College of Psychiatrists shows that 14.7% of people experience mental health problems in the workplace. As a leading recruitment consultancy, we recognise our responsibility towards not only the health of our own employees, but the candidates that represent us in our clients’ organisations every day.
