When The London Clinic faced the sudden departure of three in-house EBME Engineers, their leadership team responded with clarity, urgency, and a steadfast commitment to patient care. It was our privilege to be their trusted recruitment partner during such a critical time.
Engaging us exclusively, they placed their confidence in Liz and her team’s ability to deliver and together we ensured zero disruption to essential clinical services. From our rapid candidate mobilisation to seamless onboarding, we worked side by side to protect business continuity and uphold the high standards The London Clinic is known for.
The Challenge Trustees of The London Clinic faced an urgent situation when all three of their in-house EBME Engineers resigned simultaneously. The clinic had recently transitioned its biomedical engineering services from an outsourced model to in-house provision. However, the engineers struggled to integrate with existing teams and chose to leave. Without an on-site engineering team, there would be an immediate risk to the clinic’s ability to maintain critical equipment and ensure patient safety. Therefore whilst recruiting for permanent staff, the clinic urgently needed interim engineers who could: · Start immediately · Demonstrate strong technical expertise · Communicate effectively and integrate well with clinical teams |
Our Approach We were contacted directly by the hiring manager, following a recommendation from a trusted NHS contact. The roles were given to us on an exclusive basis. Our team moved quickly, leveraging a blend of existing candidate networks, proactive headhunting, and targeted advertising to source suitable candidates. Key steps included: · Contacting approximately 50 candidates within the first week · Providing a shortlist of 10 candidates within one week of engagement · Including detailed equipment experience with each submission to support rapid decision-making · Coordinating interviews and working closely with the client to secure rapid feedback · Managing onboarding timelines, including successfully negotiating flexible start arrangements to accommodate candidates’ availability |
Key Outcomes Business Continuity: All three interim EBME Engineer positions were filled within one month, ensuring The London Clinic’s services remained uninterrupted Quality of Hire: One interim engineer has since been offered a permanent role following excellent performance Value Add: The client reported that one of our placements significantly improved team collaboration—an issue that had previously contributed to staff turnover Client Experience: The clinic benefitted from a seamless, end-to-end recruitment process with ongoing support, allowing the leadership team to focus on long-term hiring and patient care |
