Job Description: Transcription Typist

Position: Transcription Typist
Location: Bedford
Contract: 5 weeks (with possible extension)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (9:00am - 5:00pm)
On-site Requirement: 100% on-site, 5 days per week
Rate: 13.24 per hour (including Holiday Pay) - PAYE  
Reporting to: Admin Lead
Start Date: ASAP
Basic DBS Required

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Transcription Typist to join our team at Bedford. This role involves administrative duties with a focus on medical transcription. The successful candidate will be responsible for listening to doctors’ dictations and transcribing them accurately into letters. This position is crucial in addressing our current backlog of typing tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Transcribe doctors’ dictations from a Dictaphone.
• Type and complete approximately 56 medium-sized letters per day (8 minutes per letter).
• Perform general administrative duties as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

• Proficiency in using Big Hand (preferred).
• Excellent communication skills and a professional phone manner.
• Strong typing skills with previous experience in transcription.
• Administrative experience, preferably within the NHS or a clinical setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, especially in cardiology, is a bonus.
• Flexibility and adaptability to meet the demands of the role.
