Head of Development Management - Planning

We are currently working with a Local Authority in the South West who are looking to recruit an Head of Development Management - Planning, to be responsible for the performance of the Development Management service, providing leadership to the team and ensuring the appropriate determination of planning and related applications and planning enforcement matters.

Job: Head of Development Management - Planning

Duration: Initial 2-months

Rate:£550 per day via Umbrella Company, Inside IR35 

Site presence: 50/50 hybrid

Responsibilities 

• Review and responding with agility to changes in national planning policy or appropriate guidance
• Provide the strategic direction and leadership for the Development Management service
• Develop a robust and comprehensive performance framework to monitor, manage and evaluate progress against desired outcomes
• Investigate and respond to complaints from stakeholders, adapting the service in response to feedback
• Work with the Planning Senior Management Team to ensure that the wider service delivers Business Plan objectives, Local Plan policies and allocations, and place-shaping priorities

Requirements

• Must have experience working within a Local Authority 
• Degree in a subject relevant to town and country planning or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
• Relevant professional qualification at a post graduate level 
• Leadership and management qualification or equivalent proven leadership experience and skills at a senior level managing a large multi-disciplined service, including leadership experience
