We are currently working with an East Midlands based Local Authority who are recruiting for a School Financial Advisor to join the council on an interim basis and assist them by independently providing a comprehensive on site school based financial & administrative management service.

Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 12 Months Initially
Rate: Negotiable (inside IR35 umbrella)
Hybrid Working Arrangement: Schools visits in the East Midlands
Enhanced DBS needed
Responsibilities:
- Maintenance, control & monitoring of computer finance accounts & other related records to ensure that these meet with the requirements of the Local
- Management of Schools Scheme of Delegation and the appropriate financial regulations for several schools & colleges.
- Plan, prepare & evaluate annual school budgets in accordance with the school’s development plan, through the provision of income & expenditure projections, using current information, legislation and historic spend patterns
- To be able to project budgets for up to 5 years for longer term planning
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly detailed and complex financial reports & analysing data for the purpose of budget tracking for budget managers, headteachers/principals and for governors’ meetings
- To attend meetings as requested to advise governing bodies with accurate information.
Ability to work with and support a number of different school-based staff and to be an integrated member of the School Financial Advisor Team
Requirements:
- Finance Qualification Equivalent to NVQ Level 4
- Demonstrable Bookkeeping/Accounting experience
- Experience of working in a school office, preferably using the SIMS accounting package
- Experience of working with spreadsheets IT Literate (able to utilise products in MS 365)
- Evidence of a good standard of Numeracy & Literacy
- Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels
- The ability to manage own time effectively
- A good standard of computer skills using word and excel or similar
